Individual or Group Donations and Gifts to the Library

We appreciate the generosity of our patrons in making donations.  Bequests and gifts of all kinds support many library programs and book collections for children and adults.  Contributions are tax deductible. There are many ways to donate to the library.

• Make a monetary contribution to the library.  Checks made payable to Mt. Lebanon Public Library.

• Commemorate someone special for birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, graduations, retirement, holidays, and other special events, or provide a memorial for a loved one.  For each gift of $25 or more, we will place an inscribed bookplate in a new book in our collection.  All memorial and honor donations are acknowledged on our web page.  Checks made payable to Mt. Lebanon Public Library.

• Donate a personalized brick in honor or memory of a loved one.  Small bricks are $350; large bricks are $700.  Bricks are placed at the walkway into the library or in the courtyard.  Contact the library for information and a form for wording.

• Contribute to our children's programs and books through the United Way.  Donor option #4670.

• Choose an item on our Wish List. Costs for materials vary, depending on type, format, and so forth. Please check with the library for specific information.

  ·        Adopt-a-magazine. Provide a subscription to a magazine or journal; we'll place a note on the plastic cover stating that it is a gift from you. (Average cost: $100)

  ·        Adopt-an-author. Provide funds to purchase books by particular authors or in specific genres or subjects for adults or children (e.g., James Patterson, Toni Morrison, Jack Gantos, or Patricia Reilly Giff or mysteries, reference, literary fiction, science, cookbooks, history) We will place bookplates in each title. (Average cost for all adult books, including reference and non-fiction: $67; for children's books: $25)

  ·        Recorded books (unabridged audiotape and compact disc) and Videos (VHS and DVD) Donate for authors or subjects. We'll put plates on each item. (Average cost, including sets and series: $50. Unabridged titles on CD often cost more than $100.)

  ·        Children's Storytimes. Fund one of these important early literacy activities for babies, toddlers, or preschoolers. (Cost per storytime: $160)

  ·        Outreach to nursery schools, day care centers & senior citizen facilities (cost per visit: $180)

   

  

  The Woman's Club of Mt. Lebanon donated $8,000 to help counteract severe funding cuts to Mt. Lebanon Public Library in fiscal 2004.

   

• Donate to the Library's Fund in the Pittsburgh Foundation.  Gifts to this endowment are the way to...

  • help the library prepare for the future

  • finance special library improvement projects

  • donate a lasting gift of any size

  • avoid capital gains tax on gifts of appreciated property such as stocks, bonds, & real estate

  • provide lifetime income to donor and reduce estate taxes

  • make a tax deductible gift that will help the library for years to come.

• Join the Friends of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library.  Membership dues begin at $10 per person.  Checks payable to Friends of the Mt. Lebanon Public Library, membership form can be found here.

• Consider a gift to the library as a bequest in your will.
